Pilar Law has been in the business of photography and a photographer’s advocate for 14 years. She’s worked with photo stock agencies, technology companies and photo labs to bring them online and to develop new approaches to fine art printing, book making and exhibiting, social media marketing and sales. During the course of her work, she studied with photographers who encouraged her to hone her own skill and pursue fine art photography. Her body of work, 'The Space Between', is inspired by a desire to interpret her surroundings with "soft eyes" - revealing the play of light on shapes and color rather than seeing an object in its literal sense. She strives to transform the essence of what is seen into something that is felt.
Pilar has exhibited her work in Los Angeles, Kansas City and Santa Fe. Her work has been published several books, online journals and in magazines, including Visions of Santa Fe: Photographers See the City Different, and Between Worlds: The Making of an American Life by Bill Richardson.
After living in Los Angeles and Kansas City, Pilar returned to her hometown of Santa Fe and launched Edition One Gallery on world-renowned Canyon Road. Edition One is a unique concept gallery showcasing contemporary photography in editions of one and has become a center for cultivating the photographic arts community in Santa Fe.
Her professional affiliations include having served as Vice-President of the Board of Directors for ASMP's (American Society of Media Photographers) Los Angeles chapter, Treasurer and Secretary of ASMP-KC Mid-America and the Board of the Kansas City Society for Contemporary Photography.
